Installing the ShadowScripts software is easy! The installation is done through a simple install script you download into your web server.

Requirements

Our software requires the following on your web hosting account or dedicated server.

Web Hosting Account or Dedicated Server Linux Operating System Working Domain Name User Account with Shell Access Access to Users Cron Job PHP 5 MySql 4.5+

Installation Instructions

Note: You are required to have a linux user account with shell access to do the installation.

Download Installation Script On Your Server

First, log into your shell account with SSH and change to the directory where you wish to do the install. This will usually be in your "web" directory, where your web site HTML files are found.

Next use the following command to download the install file:

wget http://www.shadowscripts.com/release/public/shadowscripts-install.txt
NOTE: Before procceding make sure you have a MySQL database with a username and password setup on your system.

Run The Installation Script

Use the following command to run the installation script:

php shadowscripts-install.txt
Once the installation starts it will automatically download the current version of the software for the correct version of PHP you have installed. The installation script will ask the following questions:

• Method - Is this an Installation (I) or an Upgrade (U)?
• URL to Installation - This us the web based URL where you are installing the software, by default you should simply enter http://<www.yoursite.com>
• MySQL Information - Enter your MySQL username, password, and database name. The system will check the MySQL connection before proceding.
• Auto Cron Job Setup - The system can automatically install the cron job if you choose this option. (Recommended, simply type 'Y')

Register The Software

If the installation was successfull you can point your browser to http://<www.yoursite.com> and register your software! Once the software is registered it will be active and ready for use!

Configure The Software

To configure your software, click the Configuration link on the right menu under "System Tools". You must be logged in as the admin account to do this.

Integrate Your Software Into a Web Site Template

If you have a web site template you can integrate the software into it! Simply create a header and footer file in the "Custom Web Pages" link. You must be logged in as the admin account to do this.

Remember: The header and footer files MUST contain special PHP code to properly work. For information please read the article on "Integrating Software Into Web Site".

Launch Your Business And Start Earning!

Once your software has been installed, configured, tested, and integrated with your web site look and feel, you are ready to launch your business!
